Psyllium Husk (Isabgol in Ayurvedic System of Medicine) is derived from the crushed seeds of the Plantago Ovata plant, an herb which is found mostly in Asia, the Mediterranean and North Africa. Since ancient times the Psyllium seed husks have been used in herbal remedies. Similar to oats and wheat, Psyllium is rich in soluble fiber (often found in Oats, Barley, Flax seed, Cereals, vegetables and fruits. Traditionally, Psyllium husk is used as a gentle bulk-forming laxative for constipation.
