Chicken Nihari Recipe
Ingredients
- ) Chicken - 1 KG (large pieces)
- ) Cooking oil/ghee - 300 grams
- ) Wheat flour - 100 grams
- ) Onions - 1 medium sized (sliced)
- ) Sundip ginger garlic paste - 2 tablespoons
- ) Ginger chopped - 1 tablespoon
- ) Sundip chicken nihari masala - 1 packet (use less for mild hot)
- ) Fresh green chillies - 4 pieces
- ) Fresh lime - 2 pieces
Cooking method
- ) In a large cooking pot heat one cup of cooking oil / ghee, ginger and garlic paste, stir for a while.
- ) Add meat, Sundip chicken nihari masala and fry for a few minutes. Add 3-4 glass of water (1 litre).
- ) Cover the pot and cook on low flame until the meat is tender
- ) Dissolve the wheat flour in 1-2 cups of water and add gradually to the gravy -- continue stirring during the addition, cook further till the gravy gets thich enough.
- ) Heat the remaining cooking oil / ghee, add the sliced onions and fry till they are golden brown.
- ) Add the fried onions in to the gravy and let simmer for 10-15 minutes on low flame.
Serving suggestions
- ) Serve with finely chopped green chillies, chopped ginger, and fresh lime wedges.
- ) Serve hot with Menu Tandoori Roti.
