Chicken Nihari Recipe

Ingredients

  1. ) Chicken - 1 KG (large pieces)
  2. ) Cooking oil/ghee - 300 grams
  3. ) Wheat flour - 100 grams
  4. ) Onions - 1 medium sized (sliced)
  5. ) Sundip ginger garlic paste - 2 tablespoons
  6. ) Ginger chopped - 1 tablespoon
  7. ) Sundip chicken nihari masala - 1 packet (use less for mild hot)
  8. ) Fresh green chillies - 4 pieces
  9. ) Fresh lime - 2 pieces


Cooking method

  1. ) In a large cooking pot heat one cup of cooking oil / ghee, ginger and garlic paste, stir for a while.
  2. ) Add meat, Sundip chicken nihari masala and fry for a few minutes. Add 3-4 glass of water (1 litre).
  3. ) Cover the pot and cook on low flame until the meat is tender
  4. ) Dissolve the wheat flour in 1-2 cups of water and add gradually to the gravy -- continue stirring during the addition, cook further till the gravy gets thich enough.
  5. ) Heat the remaining cooking oil / ghee, add the sliced onions and fry till they are golden brown. 
  6. ) Add the fried onions in to the gravy and let simmer for 10-15 minutes on low flame. 
 

Serving suggestions

  1. ) Serve with finely chopped green chillies, chopped ginger, and fresh lime wedges.
  2. ) Serve hot with Menu Tandoori Roti
